Abstract This Review examines methods to model Josephson devices such as arrays of superconducting quantum interference (SQUIDs) and rows within two-dimensional filters or SQIFs. The emphasis is on high temperature (HTS) devices, though the techniques apply for any operating temperature. use freely-available proven software first extract all self mutual inductances thin-film device, then incorporate these data, plus junction models thermal noise sources into an equivalent circuit simulation. inductance extraction stage also estimates effective areas each loop in a structure variation changes, due varying penetration depth. final post-processing can yield current–voltage, voltage-field field spectral density responses. touches briefly simulation simple terahertz single-junction HTS mixer looks at behaviour typical hysteretic non-hysteric RF SQUIDs.
